Ways of Giving
Operational Support
In order to provide our students with all the services they need to succeed in school and receive their diploma, BDEA must find $3000 for each student beyond the funding supplied by the state's per pupil allocation. Money raised to fund that gap is considered operations support because it includes basic costs of running the school. Operational donations help maintain the school building, provide each student with a monthly MBTA pass to get to school everyday, help pay for school lunch, and provide departments with a budget for classroom supplies, field trips, and professional development.
Programmatic Support
BDEA provides an education that is holistic, relevant and experiential. In addition to core academic classes, BDEA runs an enrichment program with art, music, spoken word, and dance classes. BDEA also sponsors quarterly Coffeehouses at Haley House Bakery and Cafe in Dudley Square: a night of music, spoken word and poetry performance by students and faculty of BDEA and other schools. BDEA also sponsors, with support from Harvard Pilgrim Health Care, the Habits of Mind Lecture Series, bringing Boston's innovative and creative leaders to speak to students and community members.
In order to continue these programs as well as expand and add to its offerings, BDEA seeks sponsorship from individuals, corporations, and foundations to help us deepen our ability to bring students and community members together, offering enriching experiences and opportunities for experiential learning.
In-Kind Support
BDEA gratefully welcomes individuals who share their expertise and time with our students, taking the on job shadows, helping to secure internships, providing tutoring, mentoring, or donating classroom furniture, books for classroom libraries, office suppies or technology.
