BDEA receives Nellie Mae Education Foundation "Catalyst for Change" Award

Boston Day and Evening Academy is honored to be one of the twelve grateful recipients of the Nellie Mae Education Foundation "Catalyst for Change" Award of $50,000. This award recognizes existing examples of personalized, student-centered learning experiences across New England.

“This grant is wonderful validation of the work we do with an especially challenged group of students and will catalyze our efforts to accelerate student achievement”, said BDEA head of school Beatriz McConnie Zapater. “Creating structures to further personalize student learning by developing curriculum that can be accessed from anywhere and by improving student supports is an important step in our development.” “The selection process has helped us become more aware of efforts already taking place across the region to put students at the center of the educational experience,” said Mary Sylvia Harrison, Vice President of Programs for the Nellie Mae Education Foundation. “We’re pleased to recognize these schools and organizations, and we look forward to further exploring how to build on the momentum for innovation that these models create.” For more information on this award and grant, please contact Nastasia Lawton at 617-29-0759 ext. 214 for the full press release, published on February 16th, 2010, and visit the Nellie Mae Education Foundation at www.nmefdn.org.
