BDEA One of Seven Organizations, Schools and Districts to Receive Nearly $1 Million in Awards from Nellie Mae Education Foundation

As part of its efforts to prepare all learners with the skills and knowledge they need for success in postsecondary education, work and life, the Nellie Mae Education Foundation (NMEF) has awarded one-year grants to Boston Day and Evening Academy and six other organizations, schools, and districts across New England. The grants were issued through NMEF’s Research and Development Initiative with funding from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

BDEA receives Nellie Mae Education Foundation "Catalyst for Change" Award

Boston Day and Evening Academy is honored to be one of the twelve grateful recipients of the Nellie Mae Education Foundation "Catalyst for Change" Award of $50,000. This award recognizes existing examples of personalized, student-centered learning experiences across New England.

BDEA Cited as Model in Opening of New Horace Mann Charter School

The Salem Gazzette reported the approval of a new Horace Mann Charter School in Salem, MA that is opening to address a population of students who are at risk for dropping out.

"The new principal will...need to hire faculty and other staff, and to 'forge connections with agencies within Salem that will help provide services to the students,'...

The need for such connection is based on the example of Boston Day and Evening Academy, a Roxbury charter school whose model includes “wraparound services” — community-based services such as physical and mental health, behavioral support and parental coaching."
