Tina Pastrana

Literacy Specialist
Bio: 

Tina joined BDEA in 2001 as a Humanities teacher for the Evening Program. In 2008, she became the Literacy Specialist, serving both programs. She has held teaching positions at the O'Farral Community and Nimitz Middle Schools in California. Tina supports both students and faculty members, running literacy support classes for students, and working with teachers to create literacy opportunities for students to improve their reading skills. Tina is currently working on a literacy program that would focus on young parents teaching their children to read and helping them practice at an early age. Tina holds a B.A. in English and Secondary Education from Boston College, and an M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction from Boston College, Donovan Scholars Program for Urban Teaching. In June 2009, Tina will earn a C.A.S. from Massachusetts General Hospital School of Communication Disorders in Reading and Instruction.
