Franklin Marval

Franklin is in his first year as the Arts teacher at BDEA. Last year, he ran photography and cartooning workshops in the school’s enrichment program, garnering much excitement and interest among students. This year, students who enter Franklin’s art studio can expect to find a large variety of creative outlets and techniques offered to them, including drawing, painting, airbrushing, sculpture, sewing, and redesigning old furniture. For students who are planning for art school, he works with them to build their portfolios both printed and digital, as well as helping them to enhance their technique, expand the scope of their work, and help them see the career possibilities for artists. For all students, he instills in them the importance of creativity, no matter what fields they plan to pursue. His favorite quote is from Pablo Picasso: "Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up." Franklin’s background is largely in graphic design; he has worked as a senior graphic designer for Advertising and Signage companies, and has held exhibitions in fine art and painting. Franklin holds a B.S. in Graphic Design from AAA Escuela Superior de Deseño in Caracas, Venezuela, and studied Graphic design at the Centro Artistico Villasmil de León in Caracas, Venuezula.
