Rachel Jean-Marie
Rachel joined BDEA in 2004, as one of the founding teachers of the Day Program. Previously she taught at the Dearborn Middle School, and at a DYS facility in Dorchester. Rachel is the lead teacher of BDEA Seminar, a program for new students that combines academics with courses and activities designed to acclimate students to BDEA's expectations, curriculum, and culture, as well as guide students towards forming habits of success and confidence in themselves as scholars. Rachel is a member of the Instructional Leadership Team, and collaborated to start BDEA's enrichment program. Her classes focus on using literature and other resources in the context of the society that students live in. Rachel holds a B.S. in African-American Studies from the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, and an M.Ed. from Wheelock College.
